Anyone that know’s me knows I absolutely LOVE chocolate, so when Danny’s Chocolates contacted me asking if they could send me some free samples I of course said yes. Danny’s Chocolate is a family run business in Stoke-on-Trent and offer a range of crazy creation chocolate. I was sent 7 of their 40g bars and I thought it would be fun to do a taste test with Daryl and rate each bar out of 5.
First in line for the taste test was Lumpy Road. I was definitely most excited to try this one and it didn’t disappoint! The bar was topped with tiny marshmallows and fudge pieces, it tasted amazing and was not skimpy on toppings either.
Strawberry & Cream
Daryl was eager to taste this one, me not so much. I’m not a huge fan of strawberries or white chocolate. The chocolate itself looked pretty, with pink swirls within the white chocolate and had the Strawberry and Cream look. However, even though the smell of strawberries was very apparent, we both agreed that we couldn’t really taste it and was more white chocolate than strawberries.
Mississippi Mud Pie
This one was Daryl’s favourite out of them all and it was even more jam packed with toppings than the Lumpy Road bar. It had the signature fudge pieces on top along with white chocolate curls and dark chocolate flakes. I’m not sure if it was just me but all I could taste and smell was coffee, I love coffee and I love chocolate but not a fan of coffee flavoured chocolate. Weird I know! It exceeded Daryl’s expectations though and he wants a white chocolate version!
As I said in the intro, I love chocolate so this was a tasty delight. I bet it would taste amazing with a cuppa. Daryl wasn’t overly impressed and said it was boring compared to the others we had tasted.
Another pretty looking bar with a yellow swirl throughout the chocolate and again topped with teeny tiny fudge pieces. Probably not a big shock that as well as disliking strawberries, I also can not stand bananas. I took the smallest bite just to make a point I had tried it and gave the rest to Daryl. All I could smell and taste was bananas and funnily enough Daryl said he couldn’t taste any bananas. Typical.
As stated previously, I’m not overly keen on white chocolate in the sense that if I was choosing a sweet treat, white chocolate probably wouldn’t even cross my mind. Saying that though, I’m not one to turn it down if offered to me. I was trying to think of the right words to describe it to Daryl but before I could scramble a sentence together, he beat me to it. ‘It’s smooth on your palette’.. didn’t even know Daryl knew words like that haha.
Danny’s Dark Side
Saved the best ’til last! Dark chocolate is my absolute favourite. My Beyonce of chocolate. Plus Daryl hates it so I knew I’d get the whole bar to myself. I savoured every last piece and it’s all I’m thinking about now whilst writing this. Top marks from me!
It was so much fun tasting all these chocolate creations, even the ones I didn’t like, but that’s just my preferences. The ones I seemed to not be keen on, Daryl was. Lumpy Road & Dark Chocolate rated highest for me and Wicked White for Daryl. I’ve got my eye on their Salted Caramel bar and Honeycomb Crunch which I will more than likely go on to purchase over the weekend after having such a positive opinion on the ones I have tried.

I’d love to know which one you’d most like to try, let me know in the comments!
