I finally have had the chance to put together my OLAPLEX review for you guys and unless you have been living under a rock, then I am sure you have heard of OLAPLEX. Salons everywhere have been raving about it and most offer the treatment at an extra charge. I don’t tend to go to salons as I have friends that are hairdressers and do my hair from home, so when I discovered that OLAPLEX had brought out a ‘Take Home’ range, I had to jump at the chance of seeing for myself if OLAPLEX was worth the hype.

OLAPLEX works on all hair types, including hair extensions! It is designed to repair damaged, weakened and broken bonds within the hair, that have been caused by chemicals (such as bleaching) and heat from styling tools etc.
There are 5 products in the ‘Take Home’ range;
- No.3 Hair Perfector
- No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo
- No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner
- No.6 Bond Smoother
- No.7 Bonding Oil
I originally just bought the No.3 Hair Perfector but was recommended by a friend on Instagram to also purchase the No.6 Bond Smoother. I wanted to give the products a good go first before writing my honest review on them. It’s been around two weeks and I can’t believe the difference already.
My hair before any olaplex treatment
As you can see my hair was so dry and brittle, I couldn’t even get my straighteners through it as it just pulled on my hair. I last had my hair bleached at the start of March, so I am overdue getting my hair done. It’s always around 4/5 weeks after getting my hair done that it goes like this and I end up wearing it up everyday until I get my highlights redone. This is obviously not an option right now, so felt like the perfect time to finally try out the OLAPLEX products.
OLAPLEX Hair Perfector is used to strengthen your hair and reduce the risk of any breakages. Apply to damp hair before shampooing, I rinsed my hair through with the shower head over the bath and then towel dried. I then applied a generous amount all the way through my hair and left on for 15 minutes as I pottered around the house. The minimum amount of time you should leave on for is 10 minutes. After the time is up jump in the shower (or bath) and rinse out, followed by your usual shampoo & conditioner routine. This treatment doesn’t need to be done every single time you wash your hair, it’s recommended that you do it weekly though.
OLAPLEX Bond Smoother strengthens and moisturises your hair as well as getting rid of those annoying flyaways and frizziness for up to 72 hours! After I had washed and towel dried my hair, I applied a small amount to my hair from mid-length all the way to the ends and then dried as normal. You can apply to either damp or dry hair, with the suggestion of applying before bed and leaving on overnight for an amazing finish. I’m going to give that way a try this week as am intrigued to see the results.
My hair After olaplex treatment
As you can see, there’s still some frizz at the end, but after just two weeks I am so happy with the results. After my first treatment I woke up the next day and my hair felt about 10lb lighter and had that real silky feel to it like it does after you come out of the salon.
I must admit I was slightly apprehensive whether it would live up to the hype especially doing it from home but I’m so impressed. They are slightly pricey at £26 BUT they are worth it! I don’t regret a single penny spent. Get your hands on the OLAPLEX range through Lookfantastic either separately or in bundles. If you can only afford one, or just want to try first and see for yourself how it works then I would go with the No.3 Hair Perfector to start with. I definitely want to try out the other three products in the range, once I do I’ll do an updated OLAPLEX review for you all 🙂
